Lacuna Coil adalah Gothic Metal band dari Milan, Italia, yang dibentuk oleh Andrea Ferro (vokal) dan Marco Coti Zelati (komposer, bass, keyboard) pada tahun 1994. Sebelumnya mereka dikenal dengan nama "Sleep of Right" dan "Ethereal"
Lirik Lacuna Coil bertemakan tentang cinta, kegelapan, kekalahan dan keputusasaan.
Lacuna Coil dipengaruhi oleh band-band Metal seperti Black Sabbath, In Flames, Paradise Lost, Tiamat, Anathema, Septic Flesh, Type O Negative, Imago Mortis, Depeche Mode dan Amorphis.
Lacuna Coil telah bermain di festival Heavy Metal terbesar dunia, Bloodstock Open Air dan Wacken Open Air.
Pada tahun 2006, Lacuna Coil melakukan tur dengan Rob Zombie di seluruh Amerika Utara. Lacuna Coil tampil di Ozzfest 2006 bersama dengan System of a Down, Ozzy Osbourne, dan Hatebreed. Lacuna Coil juga bermain di Download Festival bersama Metallica, Guns N' Roses dan Tool.
Desember 2006, Lacuna Coil tur bersama In Flames, The Sword dan Seemless di Amerika Serikat. Lacuna Coil juga tampil di The Blackest of the Black 2006 Tour bersama Danzig, Asesino, Belphegor, dan The Haunted.
Pada bulan Maret 2007, Lacuna Coil bergabung dengan Stone Sour dan Shadows Fall di Jägermeister Music Tour. Di bulan Mei, Lacuna Coil tur ke Amerika Serikat dengan Within Temptation dan The Gathering di The Hottest Chicks in Metal Tour 2007.
Pada bulan Oktober 2007, Lacuna Coil bermain untuk pertama kalinya di Jepang, di Loudpark Festival '07 di Saitama City, Saitama Super Arena.
Pada November 2007, Lacuna Coil bergabung dengan Static-X, DevilDriver dan Bring Me the Horizon di tur Megadeth di Australia, Gigantour.
Album terbaru Lacuna Coil, "Shallow Life", dirilis di Eropa pada tanggal 20 April 2009 dan di Amerika Serikat pada tanggal 21 April 2009. Pada September 2009, "Shallow Life" telah terjual hampir 70.000 kopi di Amerika Serikat.
Pada bulan Februari dan Maret 2009, Lacuna Coil bermain di festival musik Australia, Soundwave, bersama Lamb of God, DevilDriver, In Flames dan Nine Inch Nails.
